How To Turn Day Time Photo Into Night In Photoshop, there are different ways to achieve this effect in Photoshop some are very complex which could take many hours of edit to get a better result but this very method am about to share with you is by far the easiest and you still get a very good result, within minutes you will have your day to night photo ready. I made this tutorial using Photoshop CC with a day time street photo, so lets jump start this step by step tutorial.

Step 1: Import Your Image Into Photoshop.
open Photoshop, create new file according to your image size, drag and drop your image into the work area.
Step 2: Make Selection For The Windows And Street Lights.
Use the polygonal lasso tool to make selection round all the street lights and some of the widows, the reason we want to select the street light and some of the windows is to illuminate them. to do this go to the TOOL BAR local and select the POLYGONAL TOOL click gently round each widow to make selection hold down SHIFT on your keyboard to move over to the next widow or street light.
Step 3: Create A New Layer & Paint The Selections.
Create a new layer above your image layer, to do this make sure your selections are still intact go to the bottom of your layer panel and click on CREATE NEW LAYER icon next to delete to create new layer, rename it widows & street light illumination. now with the layer selected go to the TOOL BAR select the FOREGROUND COLOR use this code ff9155 to change the color to light tungsten, select the BRUSH TOOL set MODE to overlay, Opacity to 30%, FLOW to 30% and paint all the selections.
Step 4: Make Selection For The Street.
Make selection round the open area of the street to the end of the first floor of each building and repeat step 3 process.
Step 5: Select The Sky And Paint With Black.
Select the sky area using the POLYGONAL TOOL as described in step 2 and repeat the same process in step 3 but this time paint with BLACK. so that when we color grade the universe will be pretty dark.
Step 6: Add Layer Style To The Windows & Street Light Illumination.
With the widows & street light illumination layer selected go to the bottom of your layer panel and click on FX icon and select OUTER GLOW a widow will pop up where you have to make adjustment to the settings now set the BLEND MODE to Linear Dodge, OPACITY to 40, SPEED to 11 and SIZE to 10 when done click OK and bring the layer OPACITY to 75%.
Step 7: Add Layer Style To The Street Illumination Layer.
With the street illumination layer selected repeat step 6, when done bring the layer OPACITY to 50%.
Step 8: Color Grade.
To actually get that night scene look we have to color grade the whole image by using a tool call CURVES under out ADJUSTMENT PANEL to do this go to ADJUSTMENT PANEL above your layer panel, local and select CURVES its properties will appear make sure the curves layer is on top of all your layers. now click on the line that goes across graph and drag downward to the bottom of the line click another point upward and drag it a bit down keep adjusting till you get a pretty dark scene with the illumination areas brighter.
Step 9: Light The Scene.
Last thing we want to do is to add some light effect to the street light and also light the whole scene to bring go to the top menu click on SELECT>ALL, now you have all the element select go to the top menu again click on EDIT>COPY SPECIAL, now all element are copy in one single layer go back to the top menu click on EDIT>PASTE now you should see a single layer with all the added elements, select the layer and go to top menu FILTER>RENDER>LENS FLARE add lens flare to each of the street lights. when done select the layer again go to the top menu FILTER>RENDER>LIGHTING EFFECTS you will be taking to a new widow make sure the light is POINT LIGHT and set COLORIZE to gray and INTENSITY to 50 click OK when done.
Now you have a pretty cool night scene.
